Hide votes, awards, and badges

Hide the vote arrows and score, the Award and crosspost buttons, and Reddit’s achievement badges and updates. Six switches, each independent.

Every post arrives pre-judged. You see the score before the title, the arrows invite a verdict on something you have not read yet, and Reddit keeps a running tally of your own posting in the corner. Switch the counters off and the same posts are still there, in the same order, with nothing telling you what to make of them first.

Read a post before you know its score

Vote count takes the number off posts and comments, so what you make of a thread is yours rather than the crowd’s. The arrows stay, so you can still vote. Vote buttons takes those too, when voting is the reflex you want gone, which also clears the sign-in prompt they show while logged out.

Trim a post’s buttons down to what you use

Award buttons takes the prompt to pay for a post, rather than read it, out of post and comment action rows (new Reddit only). Crosspost button clears the crosspost control from feeds and from an opened post (Repost on new Reddit, crosspost on old). Every other control in the row stays.

Hide the achievements Reddit hands out

Achievement badges takes Reddit’s recognition pills, such as Top 1% Commenter, off usernames on posts and comments, and the Community Achievements section out of a community’s sidebar, so a name is just a name (the pills are English-language Reddit only for now). Achievement updates stops the pill Reddit slides into the corner after you share or comment. Both are new Reddit only.

Start from a preset, then set your own

All six switches start off, so nothing here changes until you turn something on. A preset turns a group of them on as you move up its ladder, and every switch it sets stays yours to change afterward. No preset hides the vote arrows, so a Reddit without them is always a deliberate choice, and applying a rung puts them back.

How to turn these on

  1. Open Protego and go to the Transform tab.
  2. Tap Votes, Awards & Badges.
  3. Switch on the ones you want hidden. Each is independent.
