About Protego

Protego is a Safari extension that gives people control over what Reddit shows them, on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro. They add a keyword, a community, or a user, and matching posts are hidden from their feed. Protego can also hide Reddit’s clutter, such as promoted posts and prompts to open the app, and it adds tools such as saving videos and sharing posts as images. When filtering is not enough, Limits blocks parts of Reddit, or all of it. Protego is made by Edgar Sanchez, an independent developer in Dallas, Texas.

What it does

• Filters. Hide posts by keyword, community, user, or website. Keywords can be grouped, so every spoiler term for a Harry Potter book can be turned on or off together.
• Reveal Mode. Shows what Protego is hiding. Each filtered post stays on the page, outlined and labeled with the filter that matched it.
• Limits. Blocks parts of Reddit, or all of it. A limit can turn on with a Focus, such as Sleep.
• Save videos. Reddit stores a video’s picture and sound as separate files, so a saved Reddit video often has no sound. Protego saves them as one file.
• Share as image. Turns a post, or a comment with the comments above it, into an image to share.
• Old Reddit. Opens Reddit in its old design, and gives it the dark theme it has never had.
• Thread Colors. Colors comment threads by reply depth, so it is easy to see who replied to whom.
• Keyword suggestions. With Apple Intelligence on iOS 27 and the matching iPadOS, macOS, and visionOS releases, Protego suggests keywords for a topic or a word.
• Keyword scope. A keyword can apply only to Home, Popular, and News, or only to certain communities.
