One choice takes that whole layer off your pages, and takes as much of the decoration with it as you want. Nothing gets locked in, and every switch behind the choice stays yours.
Cut what Reddit is selling you
Minimal hides the promotion layer: Reddit app nudges, promoted posts and ads, games, login and signup nudges, recommendations, Join buttons, and the achievement pill that slides into the corner. Posts keep their thumbnails, scores, and flair. Pinned moderator comments and comments carrying media collapse rather than disappear, so both stay one tap away.
Strip a post down to what you came for
Balanced hides everything Minimal does and clears the trim too: award buttons, achievement badges, community and author avatars, community status emoji, banners, user flair, and post flair. Focused goes further, dropping post thumbnails, vote counts, the crosspost button, and Reddit’s promotion of its AI answers, swapping commenter avatars for plain circles, and hiding comments that carry media rather than collapsing them.
See what a rung does before you apply it
The track morphs a stand-in feed and comment thread as you slide it, and nothing is written until you let go. The welcome tour opens on Balanced on a first run. A rung writes only the treatments it covers: your filters, Browsing Limits, Feeds, Old Reddit, and thread colors, jump buttons and reply folding on comment threads are untouched.
Change one setting and keep your rung
Change any setting a rung covers and the track reads Custom, with your change kept. Change it back and the rung returns on its own, because Protego works out where you are by reading your settings rather than remembering which rung you tapped. No rung hides the vote arrows, for instance, so switching those off always lands you in Custom.
Get stock Reddit back in one move
Off is the rung that turns every treatment a preset can reach back off, and returns pinned moderator comments and comments carrying media to showing normally. Doing that by hand means walking the Transform group screens switch by switch.
