Put Reddit out of reach with browsing limits
Blocks Reddit pages outright, on a ladder from Home and Popular up to all of Reddit. A Focus can arm a level for you.
You open Reddit without deciding to. A spare minute, a tab opened out of habit, and half an hour is gone. Set a limit and the pages you fall into stop opening at all, so the habit meets a blocked page instead of a feed, and Reddit stops being the thing you do while waiting for something else.
Take away the feeds you fall into
Block Home & Popular closes Home, Popular, and r/all and leaves the rest of Reddit open: your communities, individual posts, search, and profiles. Block all main feeds goes one further and closes Reddit’s curated topic feeds and your own custom feeds too, so what is left is the communities you chose rather than whatever Reddit pooled for you.
Keep the links you were sent and close the browsing
Allow posts only blocks every feed, every community page, every profile, and Reddit’s search, while a direct link to a post still opens. A post someone sent you, or one a web search turned up, reads normally. What is gone is the path from that post to the next hour of Reddit.
Close Reddit completely for a while
Block everything closes all of Reddit in Safari, direct links to posts included, and covers the corners the other levels leave open, like settings and messages. There is no timer and no allowance counting down, so the page stays blocked however long you sit with it.
Let a Focus arm the limit for you
A Focus like Sleep or Study can set a level of its own while it is on, so the block arrives at bedtime without you remembering to set it, and your own level comes back when the Focus ends. While a Focus is in force, the Limits screen says so and names the level it is holding.
Turn limits off without losing your filters
Off blocks nothing, and every Reddit page opens again. Limits and filtering are separate systems: pausing filtering leaves a limit in force, and lifting the limit leaves your keyword and community filters running as usual. To shut one community rather than a whole layer of Reddit, block that community’s page instead.
