Change how feeds behave
Show who posted, open posts without losing your place, and pick the sort Reddit opens with.
Reddit keeps rearranging the room. Home swaps to whatever Reddit is testing this month, a community page can lead with pinned cards instead of posts, and the feed you built for yourself ends up somewhere underneath. A few switches in Protego hand those decisions back to you, so opening Reddit puts you straight into what you read it for.
Open feeds with the sort you prefer
Reddit opens most feeds sorted by Best. Pick Hot, New, Top, Rising, or Controversial and home, popular, news, and community feeds open that way (Top and Controversial add a time window). Controversial is not in Reddit’s own sort menu, and Protego still opens feeds with it. Your pick is a default, not a lock: a sort you choose on Reddit still wins.
Land on the posts you joined for
Reddit is testing a For You home feed and makes it the default. Turn on Disable For You feed and home stays on the Following feed of the communities you joined (experimental, because Reddit’s test is ongoing). On a community page, Hide Community highlights drops the pinned strip so posts come first. Both are new Reddit only.
Keep your place while you scroll a feed
A post you tap opens in a new tab of its own, so the feed keeps its scroll position and the twenty minutes you spent getting there are not spent again. Open posts in a new tab covers home, community, and user feeds, on old Reddit as well as new.
See who posted without opening the post
Reddit’s home, popular, and news feeds show only the community a post came from, never the author. Turning on Show author on feeds adds the username next to the community name, so a name you trust, or one you would rather skip, is there on the card. New Reddit only: old Reddit already shows it.
